This stamp features the coat of arms of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a shield with a diagonal band and six fleurs-de-lis, topped by a crown. The design is framed by ornate scrollwork, with the denomination '1' at the bottom and the currency 'HELLER' below it. This was the first postage stamp issued specifically for the Austro-Hungarian condominium of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Issued under Austro-Hungarian administration, this stamp replaced Austrian stamps used previously in the territory. The design reflects the region's historical heraldry while being part of the larger imperial system.
