Albania Government in Exile Issue
Albania · 1943 · Various (25q, 50q, 1f, 2f, 5f)
This set features five stamps issued by the Albanian government-in-exile during World War II. The designs include the Albanian coat of arms, featuring the double-headed eagle, and a portrait of King Zog I. The stamps were printed in London and intended for use after the liberation of Albania.
Following the Italian invasion in 1939, Albania's King Zog I fled and established a government-in-exile in London. These stamps were prepared to assert Albanian sovereignty and were never postally used in Albania, making them a unique historical artifact of the war.
