Albania 1963 Vostok 3 & 4 Space Flight, Imperforate Blocks of Six
Albania · 1963 · 5L, 10L, 25L
This set of three stamps commemorates the Vostok 3 and Vostok 4 Soviet space missions. The designs feature cosmonauts Andriyan Nikolayev and Pavel Popovich, their Vostok spacecraft in orbit, and a depiction of the Earth from space. These particular items are imperforate blocks of six, a less common format than the standard perforated singles.
Issued during the height of the Space Race, these stamps reflect Albania's political alignment with the Eastern Bloc, celebrating Soviet achievements in space exploration. The joint flight of Vostok 3 and 4 in August 1962 was a major milestone, marking the first time two crewed spacecraft were in orbit simultaneously.
