Trucial States Palm Trees and Dhow Definitive Series
Trucial States · 1961 · Various
This definitive series, issued for the Trucial States, features a central design of a traditional dhow sailing vessel with palm trees on the shore. The stamps were printed in various colors and denominations to serve the postal needs of the seven sheikdoms before the formation of the United Arab Emirates. The design captures iconic elements of the Persian Gulf coastal landscape.
Issued under British postal administration, this was the first and only stamp series created specifically for the combined Trucial States. It was replaced by individual issues from each sheikdom before they united to form the UAE in 1971.
